Mexican Chocolate Cream Pie

Today, I’m going to restrain myself. Just to allow you to concentrate.

Concentrate on chocolate.
Concentrate on pie.
Concentrate on a chocolate pie that will hopefully rock your world.

Are you concentrating? OK. Good.

I’ve been married for several years so I know that whispering makes interrupting OK.

I’m whispering right now when I tell you that we’re using Mexican chocolate in this particular pie. The flavor of Mexican chocolate is not to be trifled with. I’m partial to the Ibarra label.

We’re also pressing some instant espresso powder and ground ancho chile into our crust. There will be no trifling today.

Black Bean Brownies

You’re going to be seeing a lot of hearts this week.

Probably some red garments. Quite a bit of chocolate. A fair number of roses.

Possibly a few people saying ‘He went to Jared!’ and singing ’Every kiss begins with Kay…’

Ew.

You’re also going to need to call me Hot Lips this entire week.

Double ew.

And totally just kidding.

Momofuku Compost Cookies & A Cookie Swap

The other day at the library I overheard a tutor teaching a young boy how to identify the ‘main idea’ in an article that he was reading. Young Boy seemed smart. I think he got it.

So if Young Boy was reading SB today he would have no trouble telling you that the main idea of today’s post is cookies.

Starting with some spectacular Momofuku Compost Cookies.

Since we have so much cookieness to discuss today, I’ll keep the talking to a minimum. But I did want to tell you about this book. Momofuku Milk Bar. I’m obsessed with it.

I just adore the unconventional, science + culinary arts approach that is Momofuku.

So when I signed up for the 1st Annual Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap, I knew that I needed to get my Momofuku on with these Compost Cookies.
